BUYING PROPERTY IN SPAIN – WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW!

Mortgages

As a rule, the purchase is financed through mortgages, since land charges are not recognised by Spanish law. The mortgage must be notarised and entered into the property register in order to become valid. A Spanish mortgage notarised by a German notary is fully valid as long as it is in Spanish. It can then also be submitted for entry into the property register.

Inheriting and bequeathing Spanish real estate properties

Property buyers in Spain should also know that the Spanish revenue service imposes very high inheritance taxes on the heirs of foreign property owners.

Special service: We would be happy to recommend you German notaries fluent in Spanish who are familiar with the Spanish laws concerning real estate and property sales contracts.

We are looking forward to hearing from you.
